Teachers encourage us to reach for the skies, fearlessly and passionately. We admire these role models for all the knowledge they share, and love them for their ability to touch our hearts. They teach us to face the most difficult challenges of life and get through them effectively. Without teachers, learning is barren, life is not filled with questions, and learning becomes monotonous.
“Teachers are a significant part of everyone’s life. They show us the right path and groom us to become better citizens. They are rock stars and game-changers, who are the motivating factors behind our success.” remarked Nadine Nortier, the Senior Science Communicator at the Cape Town Science Centre. “We therefore recognise the importance of stimulating our teachers as it is our purpose to make sense of the science that shapes our lives and trigger the spark that ignites young minds to want to study maths, science and technology and lead them to think of a career or life-long interest in these subjects.” she added.
“With this initiative we hope to inspire our teachers to join us in our mission to make a hands-on contribution to South Africa’s future by strengthening its science and technology culture through interactive methods of teaching: to excite the youth of and general public about science, and offer educational services to learners and educators across South Africa.” concluded Nadine.
EXTENDED HOLIDAY PROGRAMME:
27 April – 1 May 2017
Our holiday programme was such a hit that we have decided to extend our Facing Your Fears programme for the long weekend… We will ‘unpack’ a range of ‘tongue twister’ phobias and the science behind them. The programme consists of an assortment of workshops and activities that challenge young scientists to explore, discover and learn about fears and phobias and be thoroughly edutained doing so. Be sure not to miss out!
